The Robert Hill Institute was re-launched in 2013, with the appointment of 7 new members of staff with strategic relevance to the plant sciences. Together with recent investment in research infrastrucure >£6M and the success of Robert Hill members in gaining significant research funding from a range of sponsors (including ERC, BBSRC, NERC, DfiD, Leverhulme Trust, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, NSF & EU) the RHI is well placed to contribute at a national and international level to fundamental plant research of relevance to society.
The Robert Hill Institute is located at the heart of the biology building in Sheffield, spanning the Departments of Animal & Plant Sciences and Molecular Biology & Biotechnology. Robert Hill scientists have access to outstanding facilities for all aspects of plant growth and analysis. Our close proximity and collegiate approach enables joint projects and free exchange of ideas. The Robert Hill Institute runs a research seminar series with guests speakers from within the UK and abroad, and supports a number of PhD studentships.
